New Project Lead the Way course

For the 2010-2011 school year, NHS will be offering Aerospace Engineering. This is a Project Lead the Way (PLTW) certified course, which may allow students dual credit at a variety of colleges and university. Mr. Andy Wilkins will become a certified PLTW instructor after completing 2 weeks of intensive training. He will join other NHS faculty members, Joe Toms and Maggie Coyne as certified PLTW instructors. Noblesville High School will be in its 4th year of offering PLTW. Aerospace Engineering makes the fourth course in the pre-engineering sequence, which also includes Intro to Engineering, Principles of Engineering, and Civil Engineering and Architecture. All courses are designed to give students the experience of combining what they learn in traditional science, technology and math classes and applying these concepts to creating projects. The newest course, Aerospace Engineering (AE) is designed to introduce students to the concepts of aerodynamics, astronomics, space-life sciences, and systems engineering. Students will solve engineering problems and complete challenging tasks in a hands-on atmosphere. If interested in signing up for a Project Lead the Way course, contact guidance department.

New graduation exams for Class of 2012 and beyond

Beginning with the class of 2010, all students must take and pass the new graduation exams, now called ISTEP+ Algebra I Graduation Exam and ISTEP+ English 10 Graduation Exam. These exams are taken in late April or early May of the year the student completes the course.

Do The Right Thing: A confidential way to report bad behavior

NHS students may report dangerous or destructive behavior to a confidential e-mail account: dotherightthing@mail.nobl.k12.in.us. This e-mail account is monitored by NHS At-Risk Coordinator, Mrs. Deanna Cummins, who determines how to respond to these reports. Bullying, theft, and drug use/possession have been reported to the DTRT account. Mrs. Cummins has intervened to correct some behaviors, and she has referred other situations to the NHS administration. Students are encouraged to use DTRT to help keep NHS a safe and productive school environment.

Credit Recovery program

Noblesville Schools is proud to offer a Credit Recovery program for NHS students. A Credit Recovery program allows students who have previously failed a core course to re-take the course for credit.
