PACESETTER Alternative School

Mission
The mission of the PACESETTER Alternative School, PAS, is to provide education and support, through alternative methods, to at-risk students who have failed, or who have been failed by, the traditional educational system. Furthermore the school seeks to give students the skills necessary to graduate and pursue fulfilling employment and/or higher education.

Vision
We are committed to providing a positive learning environment that:
* Empowers students to take ownership in their education
* Encourages students' intellectual growth
* Is student-centered and academically challenging
* Is sensitive to varied learning styles
* Is emotionally and socially nurturing to all participants
* Is conducive to safe and supportive learning
* Promotes community

Who Are We?

Am I a candidate for PAS and if so, how do I enroll?

PAS is proud to have a fairly competitive program. There is at anytime a waiting list of twenty or more students at the high school hoping to enroll. A student might be a candidate if s/he is failing at school for some reason that seems out of his/her control. Some examples might be social anxiety, expectant parents, hard home environment, a series of poor choices or unfortunate events in life which have left the student in a bad place where it is hard to see the light, or other similar situations. The most important question a student should ask his/herself if he is considering PAS, is “Do I have a desire to graduate and is this desire evident to others in the choices I am making?” If a student is demonstrating this desire to others, even though s/he may still be failing, s/he is likely to be a good candidate for PAS.
