Basic "nuts and bolts" of the NHS internship program:

• Interns are high school seniors
• Interns are not paid during intern hours, but businesses can pay time after school and weekends 
• Interns are at their sites the entire school year every other day for 3 hours
• Interns receive elective credits and complete an online class with the internship coordinator
• Students complete a digital portfolio documenting their work for the school year
• Intern time is coordinated with the business ensuring student participation at the most optimal times
• The school district provides a liability policy on each intern for protection at your site
