eBooks & Audiobooks
Like adult readers, some students prefer texts in digital format while others prefer print. Noblesville Schools is proud to offer an abundance of texts in both formats in support of the district’s mission to create lifelong readers and learners. eBooks and audiobooks have accessibility features that can improve the reading experience for many PreK-12 readers. These features may include the ability to
- Enable read aloud
- Speed up or slow down a narrator
- Adjust text size and background color
- Mark up pages with digital annotation tools
Most importantly, however, these digital collections promote reading momentum by providing access to books during evenings, weekends, and breaks. It is a goal of Noblesville Schools to develop voluminous joyful readers. Research points to independent reading as the single factor most strongly associated with reading achievement (Krashen, 2004).
